Drale

"I will defeat the sciences of the Machine and ascend to the higher purpose of my creators."

A hulking knight of tin, Drale is the last of the land's Protectors - Soldiers forged by the magic Otherones to fight against machines from beyond the stars. Though Drale was created centuries ago for battle, he has since developed his own set of ethics and a quiet personality to govern them.

Fabian Rue

"Everything is a rumor because the facts constantly change."

The adopted son of Lord Silverand, Fabian straddles the fine line between society and adventure. A devious young man, Fabian's true loyalties are his own. That loyalty, however, will soon be tested.

Dara of Xidel

"Can you keep a secret?"

Kept young by the earthen magicks of Xidel, Dara is apprentice to the Otherone known as Constable. Raised since birth by the tin knight Drale, Dara now ventures from her home in search of the Clockwork Cat. Though she cannot see, Dara is one of the only manfolk in the land capable of calling upon its magic.

Julian Tailor

"I was naive and young. Stupid. I won't make that mistake again."

Displaced by war, Julian was abandoned at an early age to the Boardhomes of Silverand. He inherited his father's clockmaker shop years later, freeing himself from the indentured servitude of the boardhome orphanage. Julian has also inherited his father's legacy - a tangled web of social powers fighting for control of the deceased inventor's creations: clockwork animals holding the key to the land's untapped magic.
